We spent time observing real-time user struggles inside busy trading zones, specifically Oshodi Open Market (Lagos State) and Ota Market (Ogun State). Through this fieldwork, we found that the main barrier was not a simple awareness gap, but rather the financial mismatch of an annual premium for traders with irregular incomes who need to reinvest their daily earnings into restocking their businesses.
Our design process focused on developing a prototype layout that maps how an alternative daily payment plan could take small insurance deductions directly from the market tickets traders already buy every morning. This proposed blueprint gives implementing health authorities an alternative pathway, demonstrating how putting health contributions into existing daily market routines makes it simpler for informal traders to get coverage.
